David Shaw

EngD Student

David is a currently undertaking his EngD at Swansea University in association with SPECIFIC, the WCPC and NSG.

He has previously attended Cardiff University where he attained a BSc degree in Physics, before attending Swansea University and gaining a Masters of Research degree in Materials Engineering. For his masters research he worked in partnership with Tata Steel, performing research in the area of corrosion science; with a particular focus on the corrosion dynamics and characteristics of tin coated steel in a range of acidic environments. His current research involves working with various academic and industrial partners, looking to add further functionality to glass substrates.

Project: Transparent Conductors

Keywords:

This project looks to achieve conductive, printed deposits on glass substrates which possess a minimal visible foot print. This work is being performed in an effort to provide alternatives to existing transparent and electrically conductive glass based systems. Several types of printing processes are utilised in this work for the deposition of various micro and nano based materials in an effort to achieve the long term goals of this area of work.
